Since January 2008, companies can apply for the status of "authorised economic operator".
The English term AEO ‐ Authorised Economic Operator has quickly established itself in Germany.
No one is forced to apply for this certificate, but why is everyone talking about it at the moment?
A little background information on this:
The AEO came into being due to the changed security situation after the attacks on 11 September 2001.
The World Customs Organisation's SAFE Framework established a framework of guidelines to help customs administrations implement a uniform risk management system.
In America, the C-TPAT* can be seen as a mirror image of the AEO. Mutual recognition has already taken place.
